PCX87 Classics of the 1970s & 1980s PCX87 has recently announced some more classics from decades past, which we present to you in our preview video this time. These include a 1973 BMW 2002 turbo as a sporty version of the BMW 02 series that was developed under the codename E20. The vehicle was the first German production car with an exhaust gas turbocharger, putting 170 hp on the road. Striking features were the widened wings, large front lip and small rear spoiler. About a decade later, Alpina took on the BMW E30 3 Series and developed it into a sporty convertible with 2.7 litres of displacement and 210 hp. Alpina's typical trademarks such as the distinctive rims, larger front lip or decorative stripes on the sides were of course not to be missed from 1986 onwards. Renault also wanted to be sporty with its R5 small car and offered a sporty version from 1980. Thanks to its 1.4-litre engine with 108 hp and a top speed of 186 km/h, the car won over its enthusiasts. Here as well, a larger front bumper, sporty rims and trim stripes were mandatory compared to the standard version. Rolls-Royce took a much more comfortable and luxurious approach with the Corniche Convertible from 1971. Named after a coastal road between Nice and Monaco, the luxury convertible was certainly the preferred choice for this route as well and was produced in four series until the 1990s. As a true Brit, right-hand drive was of course standard here when it left the production line at coachbuilder Mulliner Park Ward in London. The vehicles will be available in several colour variants at Model Car World. | ||||||||||||
